Year 9 pupils took time to think about relationships during their Focus Day today. The Soloman Theatre (specialists in communicating messages that result in crime reduction, improved community safety and the promotion of healthy schools and healthy lifestyles) presented a play entitled 'The Power of Love'. The play focused on relationships, decisions based on these relationships, the consequences of these decisions and the impact of social media. A workshop followed the play where pupils were encouraged to debate the important issues raised. The pupils were engaged by an excellent production and follow up.

We said a final goodbye to the large portacabin located on the school field (previous home of our school library) during the half term break last week. After a false start on Wednesday due to the high storm 'Doris' winds the huge lorry arrived on Friday, 24th February to undertake the removal via Homefield Road. We have caught some action photos of the removal which are shown below. Special thanks to the Estate Team for all their efforts and to our neighbours in Homefield Road for ensuring safe access for the lorry.
We are delighted to welcome PC Hall and his 'sniffer dog' to our Year 9 Assembly on Wednesday 1st March. This is part of the Personal Development curriculum and is an example of how the Police can help keep us safe. PC Hall will set up several activities in the Assembly with teaching staff to show just how effective this support can be. This is the only date he can do for several months and the Year 9 are lucky to have this enrichment.

We are advising pupils to avoid the local parks and playing fields on their way home this afternoon having just received advice that the Police are concerned about a potential incident in these areas. Thank you. Ms Spivey, Headteacher
We have just received a further communication from the Police. The reported concern relates to a dispute.
Year 10 GCSE Leisure and Tourism pupils visited the Univeristy of Portsmouth Business school on Wednesday, 15th Feburary 2017. The Head of Faculty, Gerry Banks led a fascinating session on marketing and the promotion of 'mocktails'. He thought Springfield pupils were very smart in appearance and smart in their answers. Our pupils thought that Gerry was 'awesome'.
