Kindly note that you may see a drone in operation over the school's site over the half term break. This is to take photographs of the roofs of buildings as part of a building condition survey commissioned by the school. Please see the attached letter for further information.
Many thanks Ms Spivey, Headteacher
The Year 11 Catering pupils were split into two groups, one group completed their Controlled Assessment practical on Monday, 13th February and the other group completed their Controlled Assessment on Tuesday, 14th February 2017. They were tasked with making a two-course meal from another culture. There was a wide range of food from countries including China, Mexico, Italy and of course the U.K. The standard was extremely high, with great flavours and superb presentation. Well done to all pupils involved.
Miss Cumbo, Teacher of DT (Catering)
Please see the itinerary below for the Year 11 coaching workshops held this February half term. Any Year 11 pupil may attend any workshop but specific pupils are required to attend a workshop where work is still incomplete (these pupils will have received a letter home informing them of this). Many thanks.

Well done to Oliver Sanger of 10D who produced these great time lapse videos of a balloon bursting and the view from C-block over two days as part of his GCSE Photography Time project.

Our Librarian, along with the kind assistance of School Library Service (SLS) staff and the Springfield Estate Team have been working tirelessly over the past two days moving the contents of the Library. The Library's new venue is behind the Drama Studios (this was previously the Art Studio 3). The room is coming together nicely and beginning to look like a Library thanks to the hard work of Mrs Williams, SLS and the estate team. Pupils will be able to use the Library again soon.
Congratulations to Mrs Brown, Head of Drama who has been designated as a Specialist Leader of Education for the Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance this month. Mrs Brown will be working with the Portsmouth Teaching Alliance to improve the outcomes for all children and young people in Portsmouth.
Well done to Mr Peters who was nominated for a University of Oxford Inspirational Teachers Award by former Springfield pupil Megan Griffiths. The awards scheme recognises the cruicial role teachers play in encouraging talented students in their schools. A selection of Oxford undergraduates were asked to nominate those who inspired them to apply to Oxford, fostered their passion for a particular subject or supported them through the application process. The University was impressed by the role Mr Peters played in raising his pupils' aspirations and fuelling their enthusiasm for their subject.
